Capacity Development of Smaller NGOs and CBOs
Maarifa promotes participatory ways of working which expose smaller organisations to an understanding of the policy context within which they work, and develops their capacity to carry forward work in their own right.

• Our research in Kilimanjaro was undertaken using fieldworkers from smaller partner NGOs and we recently contributed staff time to a similar research project in Songea (Southern Tanzania).
• Through linking with other organisations in this way, as well as undertaking direct training work, in for example advocacy skills, we promote the accountability of NGOs to the communities in which they work.
• We have been contracted by the Pamoja Joint Action Programme in Kilimanjaro to build the capacity of education networks in the six districts of the region.
