Service delivery organisations can demonstrate their achievements
in terms of clear indicators: x number of pit latrines built in
y number of schools…, and whilst we value the work of organisations
who proceed in this way, we feel our comparative advantage is
not so much in infrastructure but in promoting changes in policy
and practice in a way which benefits the poor and enables their
voice to be heard in decision making processes which effect their
lives.
The challenge for us to demonstrate what we have achieved is harder,
not least because advocacy goals are not achieved overnight, and
developing the capacity of networks to function effectively to
identify, agree on, work towards and achieve particular goals
is a long term project. Nevertheless, Maarifa can demonstrate
clear achievements in the following areas.
::Education
Research and Advocacy.
::Capacity
Development of Smaller NGOs and CBOs.
::Education
NGOs Networking effectively.
::Credibility
outside NGO circles.
